Teen Skincare Tips

Keep it Clean

Cleanse the skin first thing in the morning. Why? Because you need to clear your skin of the oil and sweat that have accumulated on your skin all through the night. Use a mild cleanser and don’t rub aggressively as it can irritate the skin and increase oil secretion.

Keep it Exfoliated

Exfoliating helps remove any dead skin, which can be the cause of unwanted blemishes, bacteria and oils within the skin. We wouldn’t advise doing this every day though once or twice a week is enough, depending on your skin type, as exfoliating your skin means that you are taking layers off. If your face is already suffering from spots steer clear of physical scrubs as these will only irritate them further.

Keep it Moisturised

Depending on your skin type, everyone wants something different when it comes to a moisturiser. Some need a hydrating product while others need a more mattifying formula. Whichever is best suited to your skin be sure to get one with an SPF of 30 or over.

Leave Spots Alone

While it’s tempting to pop them it’s a big no-no unless you want to scar your skin. Instead, try applying a tea tree-infused product on the pimple or acne. This will help clear the infection and kill any remaining bacteria.

Drink Water

Water will keep your skin hydrated and glowing. Start your day with a glass of water. Keep a water bottle with you when you are out and about and sip on it throughout the day.

Products for teens often contain harsh and inexpensive ingredients to strip the skin of oil, and are filled with artificial fragrances and colours – all things that can irritate the skin, causing more problems than you started with!
